Sensitive skin? There’s a facial regimen for you!
September 21, 2012
There are hundreds of thousands of anti-aging products on the market today, but if you have sensitive skin, you might have woken up to a rash, dry skin or even breakouts after trying these creams and serums.
However, that doesn’t mean you should give up on these products altogether! Even those of us with sensitive skin can still have healthy, youthful looking skin. There are certain ingredients that do not have a place in your anti-aging cream, and others that do.
If you have sensitive skin, look for face washes, night creams and moisturizers that are fragrance and chemical free. Chemicals such as sodium lauryl sulfate, are often found in face and body washes because they make the skin feel super clean. However, this feeling is achieved by breaking down the lipids on the skin that keep it together, which then causes dryness.
Daily moisturizer for sensitive skin should always have SPF 15 or higher, because sometimes, even the tiniest amount of sun exposure can irritate the skin and cause damage. Anti-aging ingredients like hyaluronic acid and other collagen-promoting ingredients shouldn’t irritate the skin, so you can still enjoy the wrinkle-smoothing qualities of many creams.
